These are the Nike Elements 55s which I brought in January from JD Sports. i brought these with every intention of keeping them in a box until the summer since they are very light in comparison to other shoes because of the thin breathable fabric that the majority of the shoe consists of. However this idea did not last long, I have worn these against all the elements resulting in nothing the washing machine cannot remove to give the impression they are brand new once again. Therefore I would say these shoes are significantly more durable and robust than the flimsy appearance they originally give off.

They are also much more comfortable than and other Nike shoe I have worn and rival the Adidas Ultraboost for comfort. A shoe that is known for being one of the most comfortable trainers ever. This is because the sole is made from foam that varies in density across the sole. The outside is the hardest because it needs to be for the shoe to last multiple uses. The inside is much softer and flexible for comfort purposes.

The overall design is a balanced combination of retro Nike classics from the 80s and 90s and the most recent styles released. The modern age of sneaker design is most noticeably on the sole which has been exaggerated by a number of curves cut out of the sole and a number of circles sticking outwards. The retro element really shows how sneaker design has evolved over the last 40 years not only just by Nike. This can be seen in the leather strips over the upper section and on the tongue which are stitched using an old-school method that is bot typically visible on shoes.

All together, I would say that this is a great summer shoe due to it being both light and durable although it may not appear that way. For just £65 on sale and significantly less now it is a great excuse to make and small addition to the collection.
