This weekend will see the release of two pairs of sneaker that are proving to be very popular and hyped on social media.
On Friday (24th July) we will be able to purchase the last two pairs, via raffle, of the Nike SB Dunk Low X Grateful Dead collaboration. An 'Opti Yellow' pair will be accessible via the SNKRS app at 8:00am along with other raffle websites elsewhere including Flat Spot, Route One and Bonkers shop. Another pair that is only called 'Green' is not currently listed on the SNKRS app but is also available via several online raffles.
This is arguably one of the strangest collaborations in terms of both the appearence of the shoe and the fact that a brand and band like this are joining forces. By teaming up with this iconic 60s band, Nike are paying homage to the bands 1973 hit album "History of the grateful dead, volume one". Despite being available on a wide variety of raffle websites, these will be hard to buy with the predicted resell value being so high. At £94.95 retail they can be resold for a predicted £600+ profit according to social media while on StockX the lowest asks for various sizes are between £1000-£2000.

The shoe itself is very perculiar and looks like no SB Dunk we have seen before. The upper of the shoe varies between suede and a synthetic fur. There is blue canvas covering the Nike Swoosh which has been given a makeover buy adding a jagged edge round the bottom. However the showpiece conversation starter on this shoe is a secret pocket on the tongue where you could keep various small things.

Overall, although I would never wear it, I like this shoe because you get the impression the design team were not given any rules apart from a reference and inspiration in the form of The Grateful Dead which is why I believe it will be a particular hit with fans of the album and the culture of the time it was was released.
Also coming out this week, Saturday 25th July is the Nike Air Jordan 4 Off-White 'Sail' Women's. Like the dunks they will be on the SNKS app from 8am. I have however seen on social media Women only receiving the chance to buy these as early access which explains why they are already going for a large amount on StockX without an official wide release.

Key features of the shoe include a cream leather upper combined with a mesh substance and a clear textile. I personally like this about the shoe because it has an unfinished appearence that has been made a popular look buy previous Nike-Off white collaborations designed by Virgil Abloh. There are very tonal plastic cages and panels on and around the heel with Off-Whites signature mark just above to go with with zip tie and Air Jordan logo .
After months of teasers online, this shoe raffle will sell out immediately with the resell value set the be huge in terms of sneakers but average for an Off-White collaboration.
