Trainers that are no longer popular

Just like everything in life, those trainers you wore daily five years ago just don’t hit the same anymore. The industry has moved on and while several pairs have managed to stay relevant and popular, whether that be due to an adaption in the design or a collaboration, other pairs have quietly been forgotten about. They can still be found on the internet but can rarely be found on people feet. Here are some of the of those pairs that are just rarely seen despite still being very appealing.

Nike Huarache’s were all the rave back in 2015-16. They could be seen literally everywhere and were worn for everything. You could also have dozens of different colours and combinations arguably the most popular being either all-black or all-white. I personally had a black, grey and orange pair and like literally everybody else, I wore these until they literally fell apart. These however gradually lost their popularity due to a collection of factors. The first problem was inevitable. Nike produced new trainers and they became more popular. This was always going to happen but shoes such as the Nike Element react came into the limelight and Nikes customers were naturally drawn away. The second reason is that, in my opinion, the modifications that were made to a newer version made it look so much worse. The strap round the back has when changed from a fairly thick plastic to an elastic strip so the shoe fits around the shape of your foot better. This looks crap. The shoe is also bigger as in higher on the shoe because the material that makes the upper section of the shoe has been changed to a lighter and more flexible material. It has also ruined the shoe in my opinion. Finally, I think other shoes have kept their popularity, even their most basic versions because they have been the feature of a collaboration. A collaboration with another company keeps the shoe relevant and people get excited about the release. Those who are not able to buy the collaboration pair will then settle for the original basic version.

The Nike Roshe run was in a similar situation to the Huarache in the sense that new shoes made them fade into the background making them now a distant memory. The difference is that now a specific pair of Huaraches is hard to find on the internet. A specific pair of Roshe runs is basically impossible. This is due to the increased range of shoes that Nike now produce and how they all have more appealing features and have a wider range of new technologies and materials incorporated into the design. If the Roshe run was still on the Nike website, you would pick out several other pairs before even noticing the Roshe Runs.

The Adidas NMD are a collection of shoes that suffered in terms of popularity because of the Adidas Yeezy being made far more accessible. Several other pairs also felt the effects of this including the Adidas Gazelle and Superstar. The regular customer would have had a very difficult time purchasing any Yeezy just a few years ago and had to settle for the cheaper Adidas options such as the NMD because they are much easier to buy and come in far bigger quantities. That is no longer the case and now the release of a Yeezy is much easier to get involved in. the NMD felt the full effect of this and it is now very difficult to purchase the NMD and they are rarely seen out in public.

Finally, the Puma Suede became particularly popular in 2013 and 2014 although it has always been around and had some level of popularity. In my opinion you don’t see these around very often because it is just about the only popular nice shoe that puma produce, when that is compared to the several that both Nike and Adidas produce it doesn’t really stand a chance. The actual design hasn’t changed in a couple of years either. Keeping the same design could keep the business of some original fans but new collectors will be drawn to other companies where they are producing new and exciting things. That being said they are still a very nice shoe and does remain popular but only with a select loyal audience.
